A brief history of Leicester
Dating back over 2000 years, Leicester is one of the oldest cities in England and has plenty to interest historians. The history of the origins of Leicester are of course lost in time. However, there are two main theories concerning its origin.

Transport in and around Leicester
Leicester is on the main route north from London, passing through the midlands. As such it is well served by both road and rail links.

Social aspects of living in Leicester
With a population rapidly approaching 300,000, Leicester is the largest city in the East Midlands and is in the top 20 cities in England by size of population.
